Porcelain Fluorite on Hübnerite (Second Generation)
Porcelain Fluorite on Hübnerite (Second Generation)
Porcelain fluorite first hit the market in 2019 and shocked collectors with its rather eye catching colors paired with the stark white inclusions + white matrix. This color combo resulted in fantastic specimens with excellent color contrast. This type of fluorite is found in the Yaogangxian Town mine within China's Hunan Province.
This piece is from the second find of porcelain fluorite, which was discovered on the latter half of 2022. This find or porcelain fluorite exhibits deeper color expression, as opposed to the first find which is more pastel in color.
Collectors refer to the first porcelain find as 1st generation porcelain while the second find is aptly referred to as 2nd generation.
The white inclusion is speculated to be white dolomite, but there have been no reported testing results to confirm this claim.
The fluorite on this piece is almost 100% perfect. There is a small surface fracture along one of the cubes, but it feels secure.
This piece also comes with a stand, but displays well sitting down as well.
